Schedule for On-Line Application:-

  • Start of Online Submission of Application Form 16-08-2016.
  • Date of close -deposit of fee 08-09-2016.
  • Date of close of Online submission of Applications;- 09-09-2016.
  • Last date of receipt of duly completed Hard copy of online application;- 16-09-2016.
  • Last date for receipt of written request for change of Examination centre only on merit basis;- 14-10-2016.
  • Tentative date of Publication of list of candidates registered for test;- 15-11-2016.
  • Last date for accepting of representation about non-registration for this test;- 22-11-2016.
  • Issue of Admission Certificate (NET Hall Tickets);- 22-11-2016.

For determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates,

for award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF). & for determining eligibility for appointment of the Lecturers.

The final result of this single MCQ test  declar’d sometime (Tentatieve) in the month of March / April 2017.

& the validity period to avail the fellowship will be 2 years –.

— effective date of fellowship as indicat’d in NET certificate.

Subject of the Test::- The test will be hel’d in the subjects as given under;-

  • Chemical Science.
  • Earth, Atmospheric, ocean and Planetary Sciences
  • Life Sciences.
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Physical sciences.


  • For JRF(NET):- Maximum 28 years as-on 01-07-2016
  • Upper Age limit applicable – SC,ST,OBC,PH, candidates.
  • For Lecturer (LS);- No age limit for this exam.


  • Part-A ;-  common to all. This part shall contain;
  •   questions pertaining to numerical ablity, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles, etc.,
  • Part-B;- contain subject related conventional Multiple Choice questions,
  • generally converting the topics given – the syllabus.
  • Part-C ;- conains higher value question that ma-y test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts,
  • /application of the scientific concepts.
  • The questions shall-be of analytical nature,
  •  A candidate is expecte’d to apply the scientific knowledge- the solution to the given scientific problems.
